Intermediate Accountant - Location: Kemptville, ONTario

Job Summary:

We are a fast paced, well established Telecom related company with its head office located in India, and subsidiary companies with offices in Ottawa, Ontario and Regina, Saskatchewan. An excellent position is available for a motivated, knowledgeable Intermediate Accountant to assist the Accounting Manager with various responsibilities. The candidate is required to be a career-oriented individual with strong leadership skills, high work ethic and excellent interpersonal abilities and internal drive to get the job done. The candidate will thrive in a team environment, have the ability to multi-task and exercise sound decision-making. In short, duties include assisting the Accounting Manager with most duties related to the treasury function and cash flow. This includes assisting with the review of financial statements, staff supervision, and tax fillings.

Competencies required:

•  Minimum 3-5 years finance experience at an intermediate level

• Ability to work independently, multi-tasking to establish priorities, and completing objectives with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment

•  Ability to assist with monthly general ledger closing process and managing monthly journal entries

•  Ability to ensure all sales taxes are administered correctly

•  Ability to review corporate ledger accounts

•  Experience to assist with statutory audits for assigned entities (currently 4 companies in Canada)

•  Assist with administration of approval process for new Customer credit accounts Coordinate corporate insurance coverage

•  Assist with analysis of fixed assets, inventory, trade payables, and receivables monthly

•  Previous experience in US and CDN payroll administration and commission calculations.

•  Detail oriented, organized and strong analytical skills

•  Expertise in assisting with inventory management would be a definite asset

•  Knowledge of and experience in a previous manufacturing environment is preferred

•  Expertise in assisting in preparation of financial statements, financial forecasting and budgets

•  Proficient with MS Office applications along with experience in ERP and QuickBooks Enterprise

Responsibilities:

•  Take charge of full A/P function, including cutting cheques for approved payments when required

•  Assist with ensuring proper revenue recognition

•  Assist with all accounting entries for assigned entities

•  Assist with overseeing data entry of employee expense claims for policy adherence and sales tax (GST) allocations.

•  Assist and prepare payroll and related entries (inclusive of preparation of payroll workings)

•  Assist in interacting with banks for any clarifications on bank charges, collection advices etc.

•  Assist in preparation of weekly reports.

•  Assist with preparation of monthly Profit and Loss a/c & Balance Sheet with inventory adjustments

•  Assist with overseeing completeness of Accounts Receivable.

•  Assist with reconciliation of GST, PST and any other statutory recoveries and payments.

•  Assist with preparation of Financial MIS including finalisation

Knowledge and other nice to have:

•  Proven ability to perform under tight timelines in a fast-paced environment

•  Detail oriented, organized and strong analytical skills

•  Sales force experience/user knowledge would be an asset

•  Pursuing Accounting Designation (CGA, CMA, CA) is an asset.
